Start Your Search
There are four basic ways to initiate your search:
Search by Vehicle
The best way to search for tires for your vehicle is to use our “Search by Vehicle” function. By inputting the year make and model information of your vehicle, you can be assured that you will be given a selection of the correct tires for your vehicle. When you search by vehicle several size choices usually come up. First, there may be several O.E. (original equipment) sizes that came from the factory on your year, make and model vehicle. Many vehicles came with staggered tire fitments (different size tires front and rear). For those vehicles the O.E. sizes will be designated as front or rear. Additionally, there may be Plus 1, Plus 2, and Plus 3 size tire and wheel upgrades that allow you to choose larger diameter wheels with lower profile tires. All of these plus sizes have been designed to fit your vehicle without interference problems or sensor issues such as computer fault codes being triggered by ABS braking sensors.
Search by Size
If you are simply replacing tires and know your tire sizes, you can go directly to the search by size menu, enter your tire size and search. You may then further narrow your search by brand, price, speed rating or category of tire. (If you are looking for a truck tire you can choose between HT, AT, MT or even rock crawling tires with a click of your mouse.)
Search by Brand
Clicking the “Search by Brand” button will take you to all of the tire manufacturers we carry. When you click on the brand you are looking for a page with several tire models and descriptions will appear. Simply click the model of tire you are interested in and the search results will be all of the sizes of that particular tire model.
Keyword Search
The TreadSource.com keyword search will take you directly to the tire you are looking for. Simply enter the make, model and size of the product or the factory part number and it will take you directly to that product.
Narrowing The Search
TreadSource.com offers you so many tire choices for your vehicle that it may seem overwhelming to decide which tires are best for you. It’s not really that difficult if you simply consider these four questions before you start your search
- 1. How do you rank these three items in order of importance?
- a. Price
- b. Wear
- c. Performance
- b. Wear
- 2. What type of driving do you primarily do?

If you answer these simple questions, finding the right tires is as simple as A,B,C.
Search Results Pages – Now What?
Let’s try searching for a 225/45R17 passenger car tire because it is the default size in the “Search by Size” box on the TreadSource home page. The search results will display nine pages with 10 tires per page, or 90 tires. Okay, if price is the most important factor you can filter by price (low-to-high) or (high-to-low), the default is set to display the lowest price tires first. If tire wear is a primary concern, then sorting by UTQG (an acronym for treadwear rating), (highest-to-lowest) will place the longest-wearing tires on the first page. Or if performance is your key concern, go to the “Filter by Category” on the left side of the page, hit the “deselect all” button, then select “Performance”. Your choices will have been narrowed from 90 tires to approximately 15.
At this point you can select the brands you are most interested in with the “Filter by Brand” function on the left side of the page. Now is time to read the individual product descriptions for each tire’s unique properties. Some manufacturers offer pro-rated mileage warranties that may tip the scales for you, or you might just like the way a tire looks. Either way, when you get the group narrowed down to 5-10 tires, the correct choice for you will become clear.
